Notice from the Charles City Water Treatment Plant

If you received this letter in the mail this week regarding your water meter, it is official and legitimate. The city will be upgrading aging water meters across town, and there is no cost to residents.

Your current meter continues to accurately track your water usage, but the new system is designed to last longer and will allow you to track your daily consumption for better control over your usage.

The city has contracted with HydroCorp, Inc. to replace the meters. Please watch your mailbox for a follow-up letter from HydroCorp, which will include specific instructions on how to schedule your replacement appointment.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Water Department directly at (641) 257-6315.

On Wednesday evening during a City Council Planning Session, Mayor Dean Andrews recognized the department heads and staff of the Charles City Water Treatment Plant and Water Resource Recovery Facility in honor of Water and Wastewater Workers of Iowa Week.

Safe drinking water and effective wastewater management are essential to the health, safety, and quality of life in each community. These dedicated professionals work hard to ensure these services are available to our city 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Thank you to our water and wastewater teams for your continued service to our community!

Sewer work is underway today on North Grand Avenue and 13th Avenue. 13th Avenue is closed to through traffic up to E Street. Drivers should plan to divert to 15th Avenue instead. Residents living on 13th Avenue can still access their homes by coming in from E Street, but you will not be able to turn onto Grand Avenue.

North Grand Avenue remains open, but expect slow-moving traffic. Work trucks are positioned in the center of the street, and flaggers are on-site directing vehicles. Please slow down and use extra caution when driving through the area.
