📢 Property Tax Payment Information

We’re sharing the Treasurer’s post to help make sure property owners have the correct information regarding property tax payments.

Just a reminder about the different roles of the County offices:

🏠 The Assessor’s Office does NOT collect property taxes, calculate your tax bill, or determine tax rates. Our office is responsible for assessing the value of property.

💰 The Treasurer’s Office is responsible for collecting property taxes and can answer questions about:
• The amount of taxes due
• Payment due dates
• Delinquent dates
• Payment options and methods

If you have questions about your property tax bill or payment, please contact the Floyd County Treasurer’s Office directly. Their office will be able to provide the most accurate information regarding your account.

We’re happy to help with questions about property assessments and property values, but questions about taxes owed or payments should be directed to the Treasurer’s Office.

Thank you!

🚨 PROPERTY TAX SCAM/CLAIM ALERT 🚨

The Floyd County Assessor’s Office is aware of a YouTube video claiming that Congress has changed property-tax rules for homeowners born in the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s.

This claim is FALSE as it applies to Iowa.

❌ Congress has not created a nationwide property-tax exemption, reduction, or freeze based on the decade a homeowner was born.

🏠 Iowa property-tax credits and exemptions are established by Iowa state law and have specific eligibility requirements. There is no new Iowa property-tax benefit simply because you were born in a particular decade.

For accurate information about Iowa property-tax credits and exemptions, rely on the Iowa Department of Revenue or contact your local Assessor’s Office.

When in doubt, check with us before you apply or provide your personal information.
