A Frank Lloyd Wright structure is a unique and wonderful thing. Even private residences are studied, considered, and lovingly cared for by enthusiastic fans. Although the Alvin Miller House is our private residence, many people are interested in its history and current status, particularly after the massive damage following the Iowa floods of 2008. We will endeavor to provide as much information as possible without compromising privacy concerns.

Tershoen Restoration and Missing Pieces from the Alvin Miller House Series: Aren't these fun ottomans? We don't know if the Millers had two similar ottomans or if they had one and moved it from the living room to near the telephone nook/table but we would love to find some to match. We did find one at an auction one time but it was too rough to use and we purchase a newer version that is similar but not right. We have found a fun old telephone to match.

Tershoen Restoration and Missing Pieces from the Alvin Miller House Series: There are so many fun items in this picture of Mrs Miller in her workroom. We would like to find some to match now that we have the shelves back up.

This week we were able to install the middle shelves in the workroom. It is in the correct position however sadly the cabinets were installed a little too high so the bottom and top shelves are off about 2-3". We only had one of the five original shelves so we had to recreate three of the shelves and have one more short shelf to recreate around the stone. The workroom is still messy from the scroll cutting and assembly.

Last week we were able to install the top shelf in the workroom. Although we didn't have the original shelf, we were able to have one reconstructed.

Thankful to have the added spacer out of the original dining room table extension so the tables all line up at the correct height again.
