🎉🚒 NEW ENGINE PUSH-IN CEREMONY 🚒🎉

Today, Charles City County Fire and Emergency Services proudly celebrated our new Engine with a special push-in ceremony!

This new apparatus represents a major investment in our department and, most importantly, in the safety of the citizens and visitors we serve. We are excited to put this engine into service and look forward to the capabilities it will bring to our fire suppression and emergency response operations.

A special thank-you goes to the Charles City High School all-female Honor Guard, who did an outstanding job presenting the American and Virginia flags during today’s ceremony. 🇺🇸🇻🇦 Your professionalism and participation helped make this event truly special.

We also want to thank everyone who attended, supported, and helped make this day possible. This engine is more than a new truck—it is an investment in our community and the future of Charles City County Fire and Emergency Services.

Thank You, Charles City!

A huge THANK YOU to the Civic League of Charles City for organizing the water drive held on August 9th and helping make it a success!

We also want to thank everyone who donated water and contributed to the drive. Your generosity and support mean a lot to our firefighters and EMS providers, especially during these hot summer months.

It takes a community coming together to support the people who serve it, and we truly appreciate everyone who took the time to donate and show their support.

Join Charles City County Fire & Emergency Services on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, as we officially welcome our new engine to the department!

This new apparatus represents a major investment in our firefighters, EMS providers, and the citizens we proudly serve. We’re excited to celebrate this milestone with our members, families, supporters, and community.

Today A Shift participated in training with Air Care Eagle focused on drowning and water-related emergencies.

The training covered patient care considerations, scene safety, air medical coordination, and the unique challenges associated with drowning incidents.

Continued education and training with our air medical partners helps keep our providers prepared to deliver the best possible care when emergencies happen.

Early this morning Charles City County Fire and Emergency Services responded to a vehicle fire in the Station 2 first-due area.

Crews arrived to find a vehicle well involved in fire. Firefighters quickly deployed a hose line and worked to extinguish the fire and prevent further damage or extension. The driver of the vehicle was uninjured.

Great work by the crews operating today and maintaining readiness to respond when our community needs us

🚨 Air Quality Alert – Purple (Very Unhealthy)

The air quality has reached Purple (Very Unhealthy) levels. Everyone should take precautions to reduce exposure, especially children, older adults, pregnant individuals, and those with heart or lung conditions.

⚠️ We encourage everyone to:
• Stay indoors as much as possible.
• Keep windows and doors closed.
• Limit strenuous outdoor activities.
• Run your air conditioning on the recirculate setting if available.
• Consider wearing a well-fitting N95 or KN95 mask if you must spend extended time outdoors.
• Check on older adults, young children, and individuals with asthma, heart disease, or other respiratory conditions, as they are at greater risk of adverse health effects.

Residents are encouraged to monitor current air quality conditions and forecasts through the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and AirNow.gov before planning outdoor activities.

If you experience difficulty breathing, chest pain, or worsening respiratory symptoms, seek medical attention immediately or call 911 in an emergency.

Charles City County Fire & EMS will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as they become available.
