Date/Time: March 10, 2026 – 11:00 a.m.

The Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office is providing a final update regarding Mary Louise Woods, a 62-year-old female from Bertrand, Missouri, who was reported missing on March 8, 2026.

On March 10, 2026, at approximately 11:00 a.m., it was confirmed that Mary Woods was located safe in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Ms. Woods approached a law enforcement officer and asked for assistance. When the officer ran her name through the national law enforcement database, it was discovered that she had been entered as a missing and endangered person.

Ms. Woods was taken to a medical facility where she is now receiving the medical attention and assistance she needs.

The Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the entire community for the assistance provided during this investigation. The tips and information received from the public played a significant role in helping law enforcement track Ms. Woods’ movements and ultimately ensured she was located safe. Because of the community’s assistance, Ms. Woods has now been found alive, safe, and is receiving the help she needs.

The Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office is providing a final update regarding Mary Louise Woods, a 62-year-old female from Bertrand, Missouri, who was reported missing on March 8, 2026.

On March 10, 2026, at approximately 11:00 a.m., it was confirmed that Mary Woods was located safe in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Ms. Woods approached a law enforcement officer and asked for assistance. The Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office is providing an additional update regarding the search for Mary Louise Woods, a 62-year-old female from Bertrand, Missouri, who was reported missing on March 8, 2026.

On March 9, 2026, at approximately 4:50 p.m., deputies received a tip from a citizen confirming that Ms. Woods was seen in Jackson, Missouri, at Harps Grocery Store. The citizen reported that Ms. Woods was standing in front of the store asking for assistance to travel to St. Louis and then to Dallas, Texas. The citizen stated that Ms. Woods was wearing the same clothing, carrying the same bags as reported in the last press release.

The citizen also reported that Ms. Woods stated she had been involved in a vehicle accident, which may have been assumed due to the visible abrasions on her face. However, deputies have no information indicating that Ms. Woods was involved in a vehicle accident.

Deputies are continuing to actively follow up on leads and tips as they work to locate Ms. Woods.

The Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office is providing an update regarding the search for Mary Louise Woods, a 62-year-old female from Bertrand, Missouri, who was reported missing on March 8, 2026.

Deputies have confirmed that Ms. Woods was in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at a business on Kingshighway near Broadway, on March 4, 2026, at approximately 12:06 p.m. Her presence at the location was confirmed through the statement of the business owner, who reported that Ms. Woods provided her real name, and through surveillance video reviewed by deputies.

At that time, Ms. Woods was wearing the same clothing described in the original press release. She was also observed carrying a black and white plaid box-style bag and a white bag with blue and green floral patterns. A screenshot from the surveillance footage will be released.

Deputies are actively working leads and following up on every tip that has been submitted. Deputies are also attempting to determine whether Ms. Woods has since left the Cape Girardeau area, and additional location information will be provided once it is confirmed.

The Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office is grateful for the assistance the community has provided in helping locate Ms. Woods. Deputies have received several helpful pieces of information regarding her whereabouts and continue to encourage the public to report any information that may assist in locating her.

The Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a missing person, Mary Louise Woods, a 62-year-old Black female from Bertrand, Missouri.

Ms. Woods was reported missing to the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office on March 8, 2026.

Missing Person Information:
• Name: Mary Louise Woods
• Race: Black
• S*x: Female
• Age: 62
• Height: 5’5”
• Weight: Approx 170 pounds
• Residence: Bertrand, Missouri
• Physical Characteristics: Walks with a slight limp and may have abrasions on her facial area

The Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office has been actively investigating this matter and following up on available leads since the report was received.
