When people first hear about CASA, many think that all your time will be spent within the walls of a courtroom. (We get it. After all, it’s the first word in our name) 🏛️

BUT, a lot of your time spent as a CASA volunteer is actually spent doing what matters most: finding out how to best advocate for the child appointed to you.

Did you know children assigned CASA volunteers tend to perform better academically and behaviorally than ones without?

WHY? ⬇️

Children in the child welfare system often fall behind their peers academically, and frequent school changes may disrupt learning trajectories and academic success.

DID YOU KNOW:

‼️Youth in foster care are 3x more likely to be expelled or suspended than their peers. Only half graduate high school, and less than 5% receive a secondary education‼️

BUT when an advocate is there, they can understand a child’s unique strengths and challenges and use this information to advocate for what the child needs to thrive academically.

Even if you’re not a CASA, being observant and seeing the signs is one of the biggest ways you can help children in your community!
