Friends,

Please remember that our next meeting date is a little different than usual. Due to a scheduling conflict at the church for the first week in February, we will be having our first meeting next Monday evening, February 13, 7pm at the church. We decided to let you share Tuesday Feb 14, Valentines day, with your valentine!

At this meeting we will be electing new officers for president, vice president and secretary. Stewart Miller, our treasurer, has volunteered to continue on. The president and vice president positions are term limited this year.

I will be sending out an agenda and list of current candidates for our officer positions later this week. You can review the candidate bios before the meeting. We will also accept nominations from the floor at the meeting if necessary.

Thanks, and hope to see you all next Monday evening.

DINA SAFETY PATROL PROGRAM AT RISK - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

This month marked the 1 year anniversary of our most recent accident within the DIS school zone. Since then, much progress has been made to improve safety in the active school zone including more restricted parking near key intersections (to improve visibility & safety), more speed & school zone signs, safety awareness campaigns (e.g. “bike to school with a cop”), along with the implementation of a DINA SAFETY PATROL at the most high risk intersection on approach to DIS (Pierce St & DI Dr). We are so pleased to have a gone a whole year without incident & hope to maintain the DINA safety patrol program! BUT, we have lost quite a few volunteers to moves & changes in circumstances, so THE PROGRAM IS AT RISK ☹

PLEASE CONSIDER VOLUNTEERING!
- It's easy to get enrolled… just email Carina Buckman ([email protected]) & she will walk you through the quick process
- It doesn’t have to be a big time commitment (doing a shift only adds about 5 to 10 mins to a drop off & pick up routine)
You don't have to do lots of shifts (even 1 shift a week is a huge help!)
- You don't have to be a DIS parent; grandparents, caregivers & retired residents can also help!
***** PLEASE EMAIL CARINA WITH ENQUIRIES *****

Thank you to all DINA Safety Patrol volunteers for helping create safer routes to school!

Oyster Roast is still on tonight...looking forward to good food & good company! Great giveaways too from Fit Culture & Egan's Spirits!

We are also still accepting volunteers until our first meeting of 2017, the first Tuesday in February, for 3 board positions - President, VP & Secretary. Tonight would be a great time to chat to our current board members to see if one of these roles would interest you!

See y'all (that bought tickets) tonight!

Did you know it's an election year for DINA too? We are looking for our next President, VP & Secretary!

"Friends,
As many of you know the DINA by-laws stipulate a term limit for the office of president and vice president after serving for two consecutive one year terms. The secretary and treasurer can succeed themselves indefinitely if the voters desire.

We are happy to announce that Stewart Miller our treasurer has said he is willing to serve again. However, this leaves vacancies for president, vice president and secretary on our board.

I am asking each of you to consider putting your name up for consideration for one of the three open board positions. I can tell you that it is a rewarding experience for someone that feels strongly about our community and has the volunteering-give back gene in their DNA. None of the positions require an excessive amount of time.

Please consider supporting your community in this way. Any of the officers would be happy to discuss your questions at our next meeting on Tuesday, Nov 1.

Don’t just think someone else will do it!

Regards,
Glenn Williman
