Today we had the absolute joy of celebrating the incredible volunteers who make Respite Care Charleston possible. 💜💐

Our volunteer appreciation brunch was more than just a thank you. It was also an opportunity to learn together, share feedback, and keep getting better & growing as a team so we can provide the very best support for families living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.

Every conversation today reflected the deep compassion and commitment our volunteers bring to our program. They show up with patience, kindness, and servant hearts, and because of them, our members experience more connection, more joy and MORE.GOOD.DAYS.!

There is something so special about watching generations connect through creativity. 🌷💜

Last week, members of The Garden Club of Charleston visited our half-day memory care program and brought the sweetest spring craft project for our participants to enjoy. Together, they painted and assembled beautiful wooden flowers while sharing conversation, laughter, and encouragement along the way.

We were also joined by some wonderful young volunteers who spent time helping their senior friends create their masterpieces. The smiles in the room said it all. 💛

At Respite Care Charleston, moments like these are about so much more than crafts. They create connection, spark joy, encourage creativity, and remind our participants and caregivers that community matters.

Thank you to The Charleston Garden Club and our young volunteers for making the day so memorable and brightening our center with kindness, color, and friendship. 🌼

“I never thought I’d say the words ‘I'm so excited to go to caregiver support group tomorrow.'”

Caregiving has a way of changing everything. For many in the sandwich generation, it means caring for children while also stepping into a new role for aging parents. It can feel overwhelming, isolating, and at times, impossible to navigate alone.

But as Ashley () so beautifully shared in a letter to the editor, something powerful happens when you find your village.

What began as uncertainty turned into connection, learning, and new friendships. A reminder that even in the hardest seasons, there is support, understanding, and yes, even joy.

At Respite Care Charleston, caregiver support groups are more than meetings. They are spaces where stories are shared, burdens are lightened, and no one has to do this alone.

If you’re walking this path, we’re here for you. 👣 💜
