🌿 **Loose Parts + Big Imaginations!** 🌿

Give a child a toy and they’ll play with it…but give them **loose parts** and just watch where their imagination takes them! 💭✨

A little mulch, a few containers, some scoops, and suddenly we could have a restaurant, a construction site, a bakery, a garden…who knows?! 😂 That’s the beauty of **open-ended play**—there’s no “right” way to play.

While it may look like they’re *just playing in mulch*, there’s a whole lot happening here:

🧠 Problem-solving and creativity
🤝 Cooperation and social skills
🗣️ Communication and storytelling
✋ Fine-motor development
🌎 Exploring natural materials
💡 Making their own plans and bringing their ideas to life

At C.A.R.E. Academy, we believe children need opportunities to create, explore, get a little messy, and most importantly…**use their imaginations!**

Because sometimes the best toys aren't toys at all. 💜

🧱 **Stack it up…knock it down…and do it ALL OVER AGAIN!** 😂

We’re still celebrating the **Week of the One-Year-Old**, and today we’re talking BLOCKS!

To us, it may look like our little learners are simply stacking colorful blocks. But remember what we’ve been saying all week—**there is a LOT of learning happening at ONE!**

Every time they pick up a block, decide where it should go, carefully place it on top, watch it fall, and try again, they’re developing:

✋ **Fine motor skills** as little hands grasp and position the blocks
👀 **Hand-eye coordination** as they figure out exactly where to place them
🧠 **Problem-solving skills** when the tower doesn’t quite cooperate
⚖️ **Early math and spatial concepts** like up, down, on top, under, more, and balance
🎨 **Color, shape, and number recognition** through everyday conversation and repetition
💪 **Persistence** when it falls and they decide to try ONE more time!

And that last one might be one of our favorites. ❤️

At one year old, learning isn't about worksheets or getting everything “right.” It's about **touching it, moving it, trying it, knocking it over, and trying it again.**

So if you see a one-year-old proudly building a three-block tower, celebrate BIG! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Because in their world, **that tower is serious business!** 🥰

📚💜 **It’s the Week of the ONE-Year-Old!** 💜📚

And yes…**ONE-year-olds read too!** 🥰

At this age, reading may look a little different. They may not sit through every page. They may turn three pages at once, point at the pictures, carry the book around, or decide they want to “read” it with a friend. And guess what? **That’s exactly how early literacy begins!**

When our one-year-olds explore books, they are learning to:

📖 Turn pages and handle books
👀 Look closely at pictures
🗣️ Hear new words and build vocabulary
👉 Point to and identify familiar objects
🧠 Make connections between words and pictures
🤝 Share and interact with their friends

And just like learning colors and shapes, **repetition matters!** Reading the same favorite book over and over (and OVER 😂) helps young children recognize words, anticipate what comes next, and build the foundation they’ll need for future reading.

We don't wait until preschool to build readers. **Literacy starts at ONE!** 🌱📚

💙 **BLUE RECTANGLE!** 💙

It’s the **Week of the One-Year-Old** at C.A.R.E. Academy, and we’re shining a little extra light on just how much learning happens at ONE! 🌱

Sometimes we forget that at this age, **repetition and consistency are a BIG part of learning.** We may say “blue rectangle” today…and tomorrow…and the next day…and the next. 😂 But that repetition is exactly what our little learners need!

🔵 Colors
🔺 Shapes
✋ Fine motor skills
🧩 Problem-solving
👀 Hand-eye coordination
🗣️ Language development

When we introduce concepts like shapes and colors, we don’t expect our one-year-olds to master them after seeing them once. We **practice them daily**, incorporate them into play, talk about them throughout the day, and give children plenty of opportunities to explore them with their own little hands.

Because one day, after hearing it over and over again, you ask…

**“Where’s the BLUE RECTANGLE?”**

…and that little hand reaches right for it. 💙👏🏾

That’s not “just playing.”
**That’s learning at ONE!**

📚 **Storytime in our One’s Room!** 💜

Sometimes the best learning happens when everyone gathers close, gets comfortable, and shares a good book together. 🥰

Our little ones are doing much more than looking at pictures. During storytime, they’re building **language and vocabulary**, practicing **listening skills**, learning to **point, identify, and make connections**, and discovering that books are FUN!

And look at those little hands reaching for the pages! 👀📖 That’s curiosity at work.

At C.A.R.E. Academy, literacy starts long before children learn to read. It starts with conversations, pictures, repetition, interaction, and teachers who make reading an experience our babies want to be part of. 💕

**This is what learning looks like at ONE!** 🌱

🌟 TEACHER SPOTLIGHT: MS. CHARLENE SCOTT! 🌟

Today we’re shining the spotlight on Ms. Charlene, who has been part of the C.A.R.E. Academy family for 2½ years! 💜🎉

Ms. Charlene spends her days with a classroom full of busy, curious, always-on-the-move one-year-olds — and if you know one-year-olds, you KNOW that takes a special kind of teacher! 😂

One of the things we appreciate most about Ms. Charlene is her willingness to learn and grow. She takes what she learns and works to implement developmentally appropriate activities that allow our littlest learners to explore, play, discover, and develop new skills.

But it’s the way she cares for her children that really stands out. She makes sure they are safe, loved, comfortable, and well taken care of each and every day. Her babies love her so much they don’t even bother with the “Ms.” anymore… apparently they’re all on a first-name basis with Charlene! 😂😂💜

And honestly, we think that says a little something about the bond she’s created with them.

Ms. Charlene, your positive attitude, loyalty, dedication, and the way you care for these babies as if they were your own do not go unnoticed. We appreciate the 2½ years you’ve poured into C.A.R.E. Academy and, most importantly, into the children entrusted to our care.

💜 We love and appreciate you, Ms. Charlene!

Help us show Ms. Charlene some love in the comments! 👏🏾💐

💜 Teacher Spotlight: Meet Mrs. Alisa Wolaver!

The heart of every great preschool is its teachers, and we're proud to introduce one of the amazing educators who makes C.A.R.E. Academy so special.

✨ Mrs. Alisa is our dedicated 3K Lead Teacher and has recently enrolled in C.A.R.E. Academy's Leadership Development Program, where she is expanding her leadership skills while continuing to grow professionally.

Mrs. Alisa has earned her Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential and this fall she will continue investing in her career by attending Trident Technical College, where she is pursuing her Associate Degree in Early Childhood Professional Studies.

She believes childhood should be filled with discovery and joy, turning everyday moments into meaningful learning experiences. Whether she's celebrating first friendships, encouraging independence, or helping children build confidence, Mrs. Alisa creates an environment where every child feels safe, loved, and capable.
Outside the classroom, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her two energetic huskies—who keep her just as active as her preschoolers!
At C.A.R.E. Academy, we believe our teachers should never stop learning. From earning credentials to continuing their college education and participating in our Leadership Development Program, we're committed to investing in our team so they can provide the highest quality care and education for every child.

💜 We're so grateful to have Mrs. Alisa on our team! Help us celebrate her by dropping a ❤️ in the comments.

What a picture for the FIRST DAY OF 4K! 🥹💜 Look at those smiles!

📚 Our 4K Friends Are Back! ✏️🍎

It’s the first day of 4K at C.A.R.E. Academy, and what a GREAT day it was!

New routines, new adventures, lots of laughter, and of course… a good book to start us off! 📖 And judging by these faces, What Teachers Can’t Do was definitely a hit! 😂

But while today was filled with fun, something pretty important was happening too. Our children were building relationships, practicing listening and communication skills, learning classroom routines, and discovering that school is a place where learning can be FUN!

This is only Day ONE, and we can’t wait to see how much these little learners grow this year. 🌱🎓

Here’s to an amazing 2026–2027 school year! 💜
