Calling all local history buffs! One of our favorite repeat history presenters, Doug Wood, will be at the library this summer in celebration of America's 250th birthday. You won't want to miss these library programs!
🔵 Tuesday, June 30, 6 pm - Wood will be visiting the Main Library to discuss local historical figure and explorer Gabriel Arthur and the preludes to the Revolutionary War that took place right here in the Kanawha Valley.
🔵 Thursday, July 9, 6 pm - Visit the Clendenin Branch Library to hear from Wood as he portrays Thomas Ingles in a riveting History Alive! performance.
Born to a pioneer Virginia couple, William and Mary Ingles, Thomas Ingles was captured along with his mother in a frontier raid at the age of four, and was given to a Shawnee family in present-day Ohio.
🔵 Thursday, July 16, 6 pm - Visit the St. Albans Branch Library for your last chance to see Doug Wood this summer for his second portrayal of History Alive! with Thomas Ingles.
Wood will also cover Ingles' role in the Revolutionary War, where conflict with his former Shawnee people continued as he served as a colonel in the Virginia militia.
History Alive! performances are a program of the WV Humanities Council.
