Thank you to our hosts of the final session of LKV 22-23: West Virginia American Water and the Capitol Market! To round out the day, we ended at the Charleston Area Alliance where we heard from Dr. Rosencrance with Thomas Health and then presented certificates to the class for completing the program! We had such a wonderful group of community leaders and can't wait to see what they accomplish next. Congratulations all - and thank you to everyone for your support of the program!

Thank you to our wonderful hosts for the March session of Leadership Kanawha Valley, Goodwill Industries of Kanawha Valley, Inc.!

The class heard from local arts organizations in the morning half of the session (thank you, Clay Center for the Arts & Sciences of West Virginia, Mountain Stage Radio Show, West Virginia Symphony, and FestivALL), learned about the Charleston Area Alliance programs and current events from President & CEO Nicole Christian, got the VIP treatment and tour from the Goodwill staff, and then spent the remainder of the afternoon learning about philanthropy from the perspective of non-profits and their for-profit partners.

We met at the WV Regional Technology Park for this month's impactful session with Epiphany Consulting and Inner Path, LLC. Each member of the class completed the Agile EQ assessment and learned about their leadership mindsets and how to become more agile through mindfulness.

Brooks McCabe also joined us for an insightful talk on economic development and how this class can move the needle forward in our sectors and community.

Today’s session was split between Carver Career Center and J.Q. Dickinson Salt-Works.

We spent the morning learning about all of the wonderful programs (for students and adults!) at Carver and hearing from several other programs in Kanawha County Schools - like Robotics and the 4T Academy. We topped off our visit at Carver with a fantastic lunch prepared by their ProStart class!

The afternoon featured the past, present, future of the Upper Kanawha Valley. The class heard from Delegate Larry Rowe who covered a lot of fascinating history of the Malden area - then from Co-Owner of J.Q. Dickinson Salt-Works, Nancy Bruns, who shared her family’s history with salt making and their current operations today - and heard from Terrell Ellis about the Upper Kanawha Valley Master Plan for outdoor recreation, tourism, and economic development.

Thank you West Virginia International Yeager Airport - CRW for such a wonderful session today! There are so many exciting things happening at the airport with more on the horizon.

LKV spent the day hearing from airport leadership and stakeholders and got a behind-the-scenes tour of the Capitol Jet Center, Woody Williams Military Flight Operations Center, and Marshall University’s Bill Noe Flight School. We also got to see local celebrity, Hercules, in action!
