Happy Halloween: nightmare on cockroach row!

Jewel wasps carve up cockroaches like jack-o’-lanterns in a way scientists have never seen before.

Scroll down and listen to his monolog after the Lewiston massacre and the new House speaker's response. Simple and direct . . . And powerful.

The “Late Show” host chided the new House speaker for offering little more than thoughts and prayers to survivors of the Maine shooting on his first day in office.

Eye-opening, esp for us oldsters. Mind you, I worked until 73 but--blush--did start collecting SS earlier. We should work longer since we live longer, but laboring workers should still have a lower retirement age, since they have worn-out the body more than we "brain" workers. Likewise, so taxes should be raised, with the max significantly raised--last set in the late 1970s, I believe. Just read this long article and think about your grandchildren instead of your next golf vacation.

Congress’s refusal to adjust Social Security and Medicare means older Americans consume more of the country’s resources at the expense of the young.

Appalachian old-time music is a confluence of many cultural traditions, including those of Africans and African Americans, Native Americans, and the Scots Irish. Yet the contributions of Black and Indigenous musicians have often been denied and overlooked. In Floyd County, Virginia one man is working to amplify the participation of Black musicians in old-time music.

News Director, Eric Douglas recently spoke with Dreama Denver wife to Bob Denver - better known as Gilligan from Gilligan’s Island. Dreama recently wrote a memoir about her life with the star. To listen to the interview, check out:

Dreama Denver grew up in Bluefield, West Virginia before she moved to Florida in the early 1970s and went to work for Disney as one of the first cast members. That’s also where she met her husband, Bob Denver, an actor better known as “Gilligan.” When their son was diagnosed with autism, they ...

In this challenging time, organizations that work to advance racial equity and combat structural racism and police brutality need your support. Here are a few organizations to donate or volunteer with:

Communities United Against Police Brutality is a Minneapolis and St. Paul area community resistance group that empowers local communities to challenge structural inequality and police brutality.

Black Lives Matter Foundation, Inc. works to organize and mobilize in response to anti-Black violence and structural inequality.

Center for Policing Equity produces data and research to pinpoint evidence-based solutions to problems of bias and policing to reform law enforcement agencies.

Color of Change aims to motivate decision-makers in corporations and government to create policy solutions to systemic problems of racial justice by mobilizing digital organizers across the country.

The Sentencing Project works to advance a fair criminal justice system by reforming sentencing policy that disproportionately impacts Black communities, addressing racial disparities and practices, and advocating for alternatives to incarceration and prisons.

Join us in the work to integrate anti-racism in every part of our lives. We need to do this together.

Considering supporting small businesses in the Minneapolis area. All donations received currently will go to support businesses that have been impacted by recent demonstrations. Many small businesses are facing unexpected bills, high insurance deductibles, and a need for quick repairs. These needs are coming on the heels of weeks of low sales or closures due to the pandemic.
