We are hosting a free Household Hazardous Waste Collection event with IEPA for Illinois residents on Saturday, October 3rd from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Coles County Memorial Airport. Registration for a time slot to drop off your waste is required. We will release more details in a few weeks.

We are holding our e-recycling event Saturday, September 12, in the Charleston High School Parking Lot. Accepted and non-accepted items are listed below. Please note this is for residents of Coles County only. We will accept items from 8 AM to noon, or until we fill the truck. When arriving, the entrance will be on Harrison Ave. Do not try to enter off of Lincoln Ave, as this will be an exit only.

Join community partners from across South Central Illinois on April 29, 2026, from 10:00 AM–12:00 PM at the McKenna Yost Convention Center in Mattoon for a collaborative forum focused on strengthening our regional response to homelessness.
This event will include a networking session from 10:00–10:30 AM, followed by interactive discussions and feedback opportunities on the Regional Strategic Plan to Prevent and End Homelessness.
Organizations are encouraged to bring information, flyers, or resources to share with other partners. Your voice and perspective are essential as we work together to shape solutions that reflect the needs of our communities.
