🚨BELLE BANK ROBBERY SUSPECT ARRESTED🚨

BELLE, WV — Following an extensive investigation, the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office has charged Richard Donald Brisson in connection with the June 4, 2026 bank robbery of Whitesville State Bank located in Belle, West Virginia.

Investigators allege Brisson entered the bank and presented a handwritten note demanding money from bank employees.

Following the robbery, Deputy B.L. Shamblin and K9 Bingo conducted a track from the bank. The track led investigators to 114 East Dupont Avenue, where deputies recovered black clothing, a hat, glasses, and a wig believed to have been worn by the suspect during the robbery based on surveillance footage.

Additional neighborhood surveillance footage allegedly showed Brisson in the area prior to the robbery wearing black clothing matching the items recovered during the K9 track. Investigators also observed Brisson later accompanied by his girlfriend, identified as Shana Pettry.

On June 8, 2026, Brisson was arrested on an outstanding Kanawha County Magistrate Court Capias and was incarcerated at South Central Regional Jail.

During an interview conducted on June 10, 2026, Shana Pettry admitted to writing the robbery note for Brisson and stated that she had resided with him at the address where the K9 track concluded near the end of May 2026.

🚨Marmet Liquor Store - Breaking and Entering Investigation🚨

On June 10, 2026, at approximately 2:30 AM, a suspect broke into King Cut Rate Liquor & To***co located at 9913 MacCorkle Ave SE in Marmet, WV by throwing a rock through the front glass doors to make entry.

The suspect, described as a white male wearing all black clothing, a face covering, one glove on his right hand and carrying a luggage bag.

Investigators believe the glove on the suspect’s right hand may have been used to conceal tattoos or an identifying scar (or not).

The suspect stole several packs of mini-sized liquor bottles (but possibly dropped more than he stole) before fleeing the scene.

He may not have walked away with much in merchandise, but he still left the business responsible for costly door repairs. We’re asking the public to help identify him so he can be held accountable and prevent further incidents that put other local businesses at financial risk.

If you recognize this suspect or have any information regarding this incident, please contact Detective Burks at 304-357-0556 or submit anonymous tips online at www.KanawhaSheriff.us

UPDATE: Richard Donald Brisson was charged for Bank Robbery on June 10, 2026.

BANK ROBBERY - BELLE, WV

At approximately 3:50 p.m. on June 4, 2026, a white male entered Whitesville State Bank, located at 300 E. DuPont Avenue in Belle, West Virginia, and presented a note to a bank teller demanding money.

During the robbery, the suspect repeatedly reached toward his pockets on several occasions, allegedly insinuating that he was armed. The teller complied with the demand and provided the suspect with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect then fled the bank on foot toward the river area.

The suspect is described as a white male approximately 6’0” tall or taller with long hair, a red or brown beard, and glasses. He was wearing a blue sun hat, a black long-sleeve shirt, black pants, and white tennis shoes. We are not ruling out the possibility that the suspect may have been wearing a disguise during the robbery.

Deputies with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the West Virginia State Police, immediately began canvassing the area for the suspect. The West Virginia State Police deployed a helicopter while Kanawha County deployed a K9 and initiated a track in an attempt to locate the suspect.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation.

Anyone with information regarding the identity or whereabouts of the suspect is encouraged to contact Detective B***r with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office at 304-357-0556 or submit a tip through the Sheriff’s Office website at www.kanawhasheriff.us.
