Fun image of an artillery round found at a construction site on Gillon Street this morning. With an abundance of caution the City of Charleston Police & Fire Departments closed and evacuated area homes and businesses for approximately 4 hours. After asking several knowledgeable folks, the round appears to be post War between the States, Spanish American to WWI to WWII, most likely World War I.

November 5, 1775, The Gadsden Flag is presented to Commodore, Esek Hopkins, as his personal standard on his ship for the US Navy. This was designed by Christopher Gadsden from Charleston. He was a member of the Marine Committee during the Continental Congress.

Great tour with these nice folks from New Jersey!

Did you know that Benjamin Franklin's son William was the last colonial Governor of New Jersey (1763–1776). William Franklin was a steadfast Loyalist throughout the American Revolutionary War. As his father was one of the most prominent Patriots and one of the Founding Fathers of the United States, their differences caused an irreconcilable break between them.
