🇵🇸 Thank you to all the poets and our community for coming out to support our Nakba remembrance poetry event 🇵🇸

The Nakba (“catastrophe” in Arabic) refers to the Ethnic cleansing of approximately three quarters of all Palestinians from their homeland by Zionist militias and the Israeli army for the establishment of Israel. From 1947-1949, 750,000 to a million Palestinians were violently expelled just 42% of the land and refugee camps beyond its borders.

The nakba is ongoing, as Israel continues to plan and make settlements across the west bank and surrounding gaza.

Nakba Remembrance Day is the commemoration of the Nakba, observed on May 15th every year. This is now the 78th year of the Nakba.

We as Free Palestine Charleston believe in the total liberation of Palestine, from the River to the Sea, from its occupiers. We believe in Palestinians right to return to their homeland and Indigenous home towns, including refugees from the entire diaspora. We oppose zionism, which is a racist ideology that depends on apartheid and genocide to realize it’s political goals. We welcome you all to join us in struggle, in learning, in growing, and in action toward freedom for Palestine and all people oppressed by all forms of  racism and imperialism.

The most direct way we can stop the Nakba from continuing is starting right here at home and shutting down Elbit and Elmec 🔨🔥 Join us every Tuesday for our picket at Elbit systems and join our campaign to get Elbit out of SC! 🇵🇸

We respond to the calls by the international BDS movement for coordinated, strategic, and peaceful disruption of a central pillar of Israel’s military-industrial complex.

Elbit is not just a weapons company — it is a cornerstone of Israel's regime of apartheid and military occupation. Elbit Systems is Israel's largest weapons manufacturer and primary supplier to Israel’s genocidal army. It directly profits from and enabling Israel's apartheid and ongoing genocide against Palestinians as well as its ongoing criminal aggression against the peoples of Lebanon, Syria, and Iran.

Elbit Systems manufactures Howtizer cannons and munitions in Ladson, SC, where they also recently opened a new subsidiary, Elmec.

We’ve been sustaining pressure against Elbit at the grassroots level since 2024, with weekly pickets, canvassing to raise public awareness, and petitioning against publicly provided tax incentives from Charleston County.

Let's escalate!

We will not forget our political prisoners!

This Palestinian Prisoners' Day, Friday, April 17th, join us for an evening of political education, deep reflection, and letter writing to three Palestinian American political prisoners.

Swipe to read about Shukri Abu Bakr and Ghassan Elashi of the and Tarek Bazrouk, who we will be writing letters to next Friday from 6-8PM at 3265 N. Carolina Ave, ste 202.

04/06/2026

Elbit Systems tried to quietly open a subsidiary, Elmec, next door to their Charleston County manufacturing facility, to aid in the production of Howitzer cannons, munitions, and other genocidal materials - so we held a press conference for them!

We unveil for you: ELMEC! Technology, profits, death!

Thank you to everyone who supported our community Iftar & Bazaar for Gaza.

Together, we were able to raise $5,473 to send to Muhammad, Ibrahim, and Abdullah’s families in Gaza. This cash will be essential for providing life-saving and life-sustaining needs for these families, including clothes, food, and medicine, in addition to treats to bring small joys to light up their Ramadan.

We are motivated by seeing what we can accomplish when we come together - supporting each other, uplifting Muslim and Arab-owned businesses, and working toward a free Palestine. 🍉🇵🇸
