Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we approach summer break, students will be taking their school-issued iPads home for the summer. Please help your child keep track of their device and charger during the break so they are prepared to return with them in August when school resumes.

We ask that iPads be:

* Kept in a safe place at home
* Charged periodically throughout the summer
* Protected from damage, heat, and liquids
* Not shared with others

These devices are important learning tools, and students will need to bring both their iPad and charger back on the first day of school in August.

Thank you for your support in helping students care for their school technology. We hope you have a safe and enjoyable summer!

A huge thank you to all of the Edgewood families who came out to the End-of-Year Family Night! Families enjoyed grade-level literacy information and summer packets, bookfair, art station, and hands-on engagement with string instruments. We were excited to have over 70 attendees join us for an evening of learning and fun.

Thank you to the staff members who led stations and to everyone who helped make the event a success. A special thank you to Huskeys Cross Lanes for providing ice cream for everyone!

During Better Hearing and Speech Month, we are excited to celebrate a meaningful addition to our preschool playground โ€” a new playground communication board, thanks to Principal Christina Bridgette and Charleston Blueprint LLC!

This communication board provides students with another way to express their wants, needs, thoughts, and feelings while playing and interacting with peers. It encourages inclusion, social interaction, language development, and gives all children access to communication in a fun and natural environment.

We are especially proud of our preschool teacher- Mrs. Jessica Scohy-Wood and assistant teacher- Ms. Morgan Neeley for the incredible work they are doing implementing AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) within their classroom. Their dedication to creating a communication-rich environment and their ongoing collaboration with the speech-language pathologist (Michelle Robinson) has made such a positive impact on student communication and engagement.

This teacher and aide duo truly exemplify teamwork, compassion, and innovation in supporting every childโ€™s voice. The addition of the playground communication board is another wonderful step in ensuring all students have opportunities to communicate both inside and outside the classroom.

Communication goes beyond words, and during Speech and Hearing Awareness Month, we celebrate every voice, every form of communication, and the educators who help make those connections possible each day.

During Staff Appreciation Week, we have truly felt the love and support from our community. A heartfelt thank you to the parents of Edgewood for supplying coffee and pastries from Mea Cuppa Coffee on Monday, Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation providing Chick-fil-A on Tuesday, Good News Club for providing lunch and South Charleston Country Club Eagle Nest Restaurant for providing a delicious and hardy lunch on Wednesday. Thanks Mountain Care Network for the cupcakes, St. Christopher Episcopal Church for donuts and coffee for breakfast, The Healing House for lunch and giving away raffle prizes on Thursday, and Edgewood parents for the taco bar for lunch from Phat Daddyโ€™s on Da Track and water bottles today.

Your kindness, support, and thoughtfulness mean so much to our teachers and staff members who work tirelessly each day to support our students. Because of your generosity, our staff felt appreciated, encouraged, and celebrated. We are incredibly grateful for community partners who continue to invest in our school and the people within them. Thank you for helping make Staff Appreciation Week so special!
