Happy Birthday to the West Virginia Turnpike!

On this day in 1952, construction began on a roadway that would forever change travel across our state. What started as an ambitious vision grew into a vital link connecting West Virginians, supporting commerce, and welcoming travelers from near and far.

More than 70 years later, we're proud to continue serving millions of motorists each year and helping keep the Mountain State connected.

Here's to the road that keeps West Virginia moving forward. ❤️⛰️

There are currently multiple weather related incidents, and accidents occurring in the areas of mile marker 53, 64, and mile marker 64.5. Crews are currently working to resolve these issues.

Reduce speed and use caution in the area!
