THE JEFFERSON COUNTY COMMISSION invited WV Secretary of State Kris Warner to speak to them at the Commission meeting held on Thursday, June 4th. Secretary Warner talked with the Commissioners about business development in the eastern panhandle. He also updated them on the new WV Office of Entrepreneurship that the WV Legislature created and placed under the Secretary of State's Office. The new initiative goes into effect on July 1st.

LITTLE EAGLE CHILDCARE CENTER hosted a special legislative reception last week in Kearneysville, WV. The Center is a member of the WV Association for Young Children (AYC). The AYC and Secretary Warner have been traveling the state recognizing legislators for their support of childcare legislation this past legislative session. This landmark legislation will assist daycare centers throughout the state.

BAGEL CHICKS BAKERY is a small business located at 733 North Mildred Street in Ranson, WV. Secretary Warner and Jefferson County Commissioner Cara Keys visited with one of the owners, Kat Acker, during the Secretary's recent visit to the eastern panhandle. Earlier that day, Secretary Warner spoke to the Jefferson County Commission about the new WV Office of Entrepreneurship designed to help sustain small businesses like Bagel Chicks Bakery. The other owner of the Bakery who was not present during the Secretary's visit is Jackie Constantino.

THE WV COAL FESTIVAL PAGEANT will take the stage at the West Virginia Culture Center at the State Capitol Complex this weekend, Saturday, June 6th. Doors open to the public at 4:00pm. The program begins at 5:00pm with the national anthem, followed by the presentation of contestants, competitions, and performances. WV Secretary of State Kris Warner will be a special guest speaker at 7:00pm.

The West Virginia Coal Festival Royalty Program consists of five titleholders, ranging from Junior Teen through Mrs. West Virginia Coal Festival. Secretary Warner will crown the Queen. Title holders will serve as ambassadors for the 32nd Annual West Virginia Coal Festival, the coal industry, and the state of West Virginia. The five day Festival will be held June 16th to June 20th, in Madison, Boone County. The Festival draws more than 65,000 attendees each year.

LAUNCHING A NEW BUSINESS IN WEST VIRGINIA? WV Secretary of State Kris Warner announced today a collaboration with the WVSOS Business Division and the West Virginia Tax Division, to host a FREE virtual webinar on Monday, June 8th. The business workshop starts at 2:00pm.

The online seminar will cover the essential components of starting and operating a business in West Virginia, including registration requirements, business structure basics, business taxes, filing and recordkeeping obligations.
