The West Virginia Department of Human Services (DoHS) is proud to celebrate Jacki Volkman, who has been named West Virginia CASA CPS Worker of the Year. Jacki will be honored at the WV CASA Annual Gala on Saturday, February 7, 2026.

Jacki began her career with the former West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources—now DoHS—in January 2013 as a contracted Youth Services worker in Marshall County. She officially joined the department as a Child Protective Services (CPS) worker in August 2014, serving families across Marshall, Wetzel, and Tyler counties in Youth Services, CPS Intake, and Ongoing CPS roles.

In 2019, Jacki transferred to the Weirton office, working in Hancock, Brooke, and Ohio counties before moving to the Ohio County office as an Ongoing Court CPS Worker. In July 2022, she stepped into her current role as Ongoing CPS Supervisor in Ohio County, where she continues to lead with compassion, dedication, and integrity.

Although Jacki never planned to work in CPS, she describes the role as her “labor of love.” While the work is challenging, she finds purpose in helping families overcome obstacles and supporting children through some of life’s hardest moments.

“The good outcomes and successes—no matter how big or how small—are what keep me coming back,” Jacki shared. “If I can make a difference for even one child or one family, that is what inspires me.”

DoHS congratulates Jacki on this well-deserved recognition and thanks her for her unwavering commitment to West Virginia’s children and families.
