Today, I paid the two dollars and signed up for another two years of service. I am blessed and honored to be allowed to serve in such a historic institution and chamber. This election is different. I'm also running for Speaker of the NH House. There is a lot on the line and I want to make a difference. It has been a long time since western NH had a Speaker, and I'm going to try to fix that.

HB 1565 Passes the House and Senate

CONCORD, NH - Representative Jim Spillane (R-Deerfield) released the following statement after the House passed HB1565:

“After six years of relentless effort, New Hampshire House Republicans succeeded in passing HB1565. Representative James Spillane (R-Deerfield), the primary sponsor of the bill, had the following to say: “For the first time, those who maliciously weaponize the child welfare system against innocent families will face real consequences.”

Spillane continued: “Because of this bill, anyone who deliberately files a false report to the Division for Children, Youth, and Families will face criminal misdemeanor charges. HB1565 preserves the role and responsibilities inherent to DCYF. Their primary mission should always be a lifeline for victims of legitimate abuse. Never to be weaponized by feuding parents, disgruntled neighbors, and those with grudges.”

“Good-faith reporting is still genuinely protected. This targets only one thing: malice. In New Hampshire the child welfare system will remain to protect children, not to attack innocent families,” Spillane stated.
