Congratulations to our CES intermediate May Students of the Month! We are proud of each of these students for being respectful to their teachers and classmates. Way to show up and show out every day! Each student got to celebrate by going down our CES slide!

🎥 A special keepsake for our CES 5th grade families! 💙

Our 5th Grade Video Club captured a student-led “day in the life” of CES through the eyes of our 5th graders. This sweet reflection of everyday Pirate life features student interviews, memories, favorite school moments, and even voiceovers… all filmed 100% by students!

More than just a video, this project gave video club students real-world filming and storytelling skills while creating a keepsake families can treasure for years to come. Huge shoutout to our student videographers, Mrs. Nashiea Hong Edmiston, and the Greater Clark Educational Foundation for grant funds that helped provide equipment used for this project, including microphones, tripods, and stabilizers.

And just like that… this is the FINAL CES Pirate Post of the 2025-2026 school year. 💙 What an absolutely epic year it has been. From the very first day as one united Charlestown Elementary to all the memories, milestones, field trips, performances, games, clubs, and everyday moments in between… our Pirates truly made this year one to remember. We’ve got a big week ahead filled with celebrations, memories, and a lot of proud Pirate moments!

🎓 Celebrations This Week
Kindergarten Celebration is Monday, May 18.
5th Grade Celebration is Tuesday, May 19.
Last Student Day is Wednesday, May 20.

If families would like siblings to attend Kindergarten or 5th Grade celebrations, siblings must be signed out through the main office ahead of time. Staff members will not be able to call students down from classrooms or the gym during ceremonies as they will be assisting with events throughout the building. Please allow extra time for sign outs. Guests will enter through Gym Door 13 and exit through Gym Door 14.

☀️ Field Day Shoutout
Field Day was a HUGE success! Thank you to Mrs. Tingle, Mrs. Burke, our PTO, and all of the parent volunteers who helped create such a fun day for our students. CES showed up big time!

Field Day at CES was such a fun day for our Pirates ☁️🏴‍☠️💦

From Duck Duck Splash to Tug of War and the crowd favorite dunk tank, students spent the day making memories with classmates and teachers while rotating through games, inflatables, and activities all across campus. Students also got to enjoy a magician during indoor time, which brought lots of laughs, surprises, and one of those experiences many kids don’t get the chance to see up close.

The dunk tank volunteers absolutely deserve a shoutout because those cold temperatures were no joke this morning. Teachers and staff stepped way outside their comfort zones to make the day extra fun for students, and Mrs. Tiffany and Mrs. Shirlee even filled in for open dunk tank spots throughout the entire day to keep it going strong for kids.

What families may not always see is the amount of planning, teamwork, and behind-the-scenes effort it takes to organize a Field Day for a school this size. From our cafeteria staff delivering lunches straight to classrooms, to teachers, support staff, and parent volunteers helping everything run smoothly, today was another reminder of how special the Charlestown community truly is. We are so lucky to be part of it!

Congratulations to these Little Pirate readers in grades K-1! They earned top honors for completing the most Library Reading Logs this year.

Winners received a medal, a certificate, a bookmark and a book from the school vending machine. Special thanks to Charlestown Coffee & Cream for presenting them with a gift certificate for a free ice cream cone.

We hope all of our CES moms had a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend! 💙 The weather this week looks beautiful, and it’s hard to believe this is our final FULL week of the school year. Teachers and staff will be working hard to finish strong while also making lots of fun memories with our Pirates during these last few days together.

☀️ Field Day is this Friday! Please reach out to your child’s teacher if your child will need a sack lunch from school for Field Day so our cafeteria staff can prepare a lunch count. School sack lunches will include an Uncrustable, and accommodations can absolutely be made for students with peanut allergies. As always, contact your child’s teacher with any questions.

📚 CES Library - Our library still needs your help! We are currently missing 172 library books. Please check backpacks, bedrooms, cars, and bookshelves and send any CES library books back to school as soon as possible.
