When I visited Block Island last fall, I took the time to see the challenges firsthand. I photographed infrastructure concerns, including the DPW building and the Airport, and added them to a growing list of issues I wanted to better understand.
I won't promise quick fixes without knowing the full picture. Before proposing solutions, it's important to understand which responsibilities belong to the state or local government, what plans are already in place, what funding is available, and where current discussions stand.
As your State Representative, my role would be to work with Island leadership, advocate for Block Island at the State House, and hold the appropriate agencies accountable for addressing these concerns.
I believe leadership starts with listening. It means asking questions, doing the research, and speaking with the people who experience these issues every day before making promises.
One thing is clear: Block Island deserves more attention from the State of Rhode Island. As a vital part of our state's economy, tourism industry, and coastal community, the Island faces unique challenges that require thoughtful, consistent advocacy, not just during election season, but every day.
