Boss Family Christmas Display

🚨UPDATE:

We had a great start to decorating The Chalet. Due to the constant snowfall in the recent weeks, we have had many setbacks to finishing any setup around the yard. It is impossible to safely stake down inflatables, extension cords, and the cut out figures.

We had it all planned out, we were able to start early as normal. Lots of upgrades were done inside The Chalet since the spring - the brand new porch is something that was much needed.

We always strive to make this display the “best one yet” every year, and unfortunately we know it is not possible to get it to how we envisioned it this time.

We apologize to everyone near and far, but we will not be able to open this year.

Please take this decision with kindness. We hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

We do hope to continue the display in the future!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We have started some of the major(and difficult) decorations on the Chalet. We'd like to give a big thank you to Doug & Josh Nitchman of Northern Utility Contractors for the equipment assistance putting up lights!

UPDATE: FIRST DELIVERY AT 10:30!
Hello Charlevoix, we have great news! The new petunias will be arriving on Thursday morning! We are looking for volunteers to help us unload the flowers, prepare the baskets, and deliver them all over town. The petunias are a huge part of our community, and we really appreciate anyone who can be there to help! If you are able to help, please join us in Bridge Park as we get ready for summer and keeping Charlevoix Beautiful.

*2024 UPDATE* We have been getting many messages and questions regarding our display this December, and we would like to give an update for everyone. As many of you know, Dale & Marilyn Boss started this beautiful display in 1978, and it has grown over the many years to become a constant “must-do” winter activity in Charlevoix. Our family has been very passionate about continuing their tradition the last few years, and we really enjoy how much happiness it brings to the community every Christmas Holiday.

With that being said, our family made the decision this fall to make some changes. We are NOT retiring the scene, but instead taking a much needed year off from the display to address a few issues. The Chalet has been in desperate need of some major repairs and upgrades that we have not had time to get to the last few years. We are in the process of restoring the inside of the Chalet, and will be upgrading many parts of it including the exterior, the main front porch and electric.

We understand that this may be disappointing to some, but we want to assure everyone that the display will continue on in the future. We have many plans already in place to improve the scene, but it does require this work to be done first.

As always, we plan to keep the original aspects of the display and all of the original figures(hand made and painted by Marilyn), along with the many additions we have added over the recent years. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding in this process, and there are still many photos and videos from past years on our page to enjoy.

We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and hope you all have a wonderful holiday season!
