From Earth to Earth:
A Documentary on Natural Burials
Thursday, January 29, 1:30-3:00
Free. Registration is appreciated by calling 802-425-6345.

Back by popular demand, join us for a third screening of the award-winning documentary From Earth to Earth: The Lost Art of Dying in America. This powerful 20-minute film explores the growing movement of natural burial- an environmentally conscious alternative to conventional funerals and cremation. Through personal stories of pioneers, advocates, and families, the documentary traces the reemergence of this once-common practice and its environmental and personal benefits. It highlights the journey toward the (re) legalization of natural burial in Vermont and the founding of the Vermont Forest Cemetery, Vermont’s first entirely natural burial ground. Following the documentary, there will be a Q&A session led by Jim Hogel, Communication & Outreach Coordinator at Vermont Forest Cemetery. To register, call the Charlotte Senior Center at 802-425-6345.

At Age Well, our mission is to enhance the quality of life for older adults in our community. We are aware of the recent announcements from the White House regarding a proposed funding pause and the latest statement from the OMB stating that the directive has been lifted. The White House has rescinded the pause order memo on funding which is a relief and good news. With that said, the OMB will continue their scrutiny and evaluations of all federally and grant funded programs and Older Americans Act (OAA) programs, including Meals on Wheels. We are not out of the woods as far as ensuring that the new Administration understands the incredible value of the federally funded services that so many rely on nationwide.

While we navigate this uncertainty, we are optimistic that, through collaboration, we can continue to serve those who need us most. We remain committed to working alongside local government, community partners, and stakeholders to find a solution that ensures the continuation of these essential services. In the meantime, we will continue to provide all our supports and services without disruption.

Our priority is, and always will be, to meet the needs of our aging population, and we will continue advocating for the resources necessary to sustain our programs. We will keep the community informed with any updates through our website, social media, and email channels. We understand that these issues can be concerning for both our staff and those we serve, but please know we are committed to maintaining all services and ensuring that our clients continue to receive the care they depend on.

Thank you for your continued support as we work through this together.

Thank you Charlotte-Shelburne-Hinesburg Rotary Club!

We are grateful for the support of CHS Rotary Club and the funding for our new bike rack!

If you have recently driven by the Charlotte Senior Center, you may have noticed a new bike rack on the front lawn. Thank you to the Charlotte-Shelburne-Hinesburg Rotary Club for the gift of this new rack that has extra wide spacing to support e-bikes.

The Rotary club applied for a grant and then purchased and installed the bike rack at the center. There are many participants who bike to the Senior Center to attend programming and now there will be space to safely lock their bikes.

The mission of the Rotary Club of Charlotte-Shelburne-Hinesburg is "Service Above Self" and currently has over 60 members. Globally, there are more than 1.2 million Rotary members dedicated to building a better world.

If you are interested in learning more about Rotary, check out their website: https://rotaryclubofcsh.org/ or attend one of their weekly meetings on Wednesday mornings on zoom or in-person at the Shelburne United Methodist Church, 30 Church Street, Shelburne, VT 05482.
