New Online Permitting Portal Coming Soon!

Big changes are coming to how Lincoln County handles permits. Starting October 15, our new online Permitting Portal goes live, giving residents and contractors the ability to apply for permits, track application status, and manage projects from a computer or phone.
Builders and contractors, this is a good time to start thinking about how you'll manage your permit pipeline going forward.

What you'll be able to do:
-Apply for permits and license online
-Pay fees online by card, or ACH/e-check, with no added processing fee
-Request inspections online
-Upload plans and supporting documents
-Track application and permit status in real time
-Message your reviewer directly through the portal
-Print permits and certificates on demand

✨Lincoln County along with the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office is proud to announce our own Deputy Marcus Miller has been named President of the North Carolina Association of School Resource Officers.
🚓
"This role means a great deal to me. It’s a passion of mine to support SROs across North Carolina, rather than just locally, and to help them make a positive impact in their communities. Ultimately, I want to help them make a meaningful difference in the lives of our children and schools," said Deputy Miller.
Miller has been in law enforcement for almost 20 years. He says being an effective SRO is a calling and a blessing.
"We are very proud of Deputy Miller, I know he will represent Lincoln County Sheriff's Office well, and it goes to show the outstanding class of SROs we have in this community," said Sheriff Bill Beam.

East Lincoln Library Project Update: September 2026

We are getting SO close, and we can almost smell the new pages!
We’ve heard the community is anxiously excited so here is a sneak peak at the new East Lincoln Library. Most of the furniture has arrived, including lounge chairs, tables, study carrels, and Adirondack rockers located on the Reading porch. County staff are working on getting the technology in place and processing materials for the collection. Landscaping is mostly done, contractor is perfecting the grading.
There are still a few things to work through before we’re ready to open. We will post updates on the county website and our social media pages.

Thank you for your patience, we can’t wait to welcome you inside!

We honor the 25th anniversary by illuminating the Historic Courthouse in memorial blue.

Congratulations to our 2026 winners!

🎖2026 Conservation Farm Family: Heafner Homestead Farm
🎖Blair Goodson Award Winner: Sara Gales, Lincoln County Cooperative Extension
🎖6th Grade Soil & Water Essay Winner: Marvin, Lincolnton Middle School

The Heafner Homestead Farm is a six generation family farm that started in 1877. Its early days mirrored that of many farms of the time, with major products likely being cotton, lumber, and sugarcane for feed and molasses. G.W. Heafner, the founder and our Confederate veteran, was quite the engineer, sawing all the beams and lumber that were used on the property.
