A gated community just got $300,000 of your tax dollars. The state rep for that district lives inside the gates.

Nothing wrong with making money. Nothing wrong with a nice neighborhood. But public dollars are for the public good, not for quietly writing yourself into the budget with no explanation why.

Meanwhile in that same county, 19% of kids live in poverty and 14% of residents are on food stamps.

This isn't about vs. . It's about who gets managed by the process, and who writes themselves into it.

Don't check out. That's exactly what they're counting on.

Why does feel like there's always something happening, and (for some people) Charlotte doesn't? 👀

This really had me wondering, so I dug a little deeper. It's true we're more event- based, and a venue can have a totally different vibe depending on who's hosting that night. If your IG algorithm isn't already well tuned, you're likely to miss out on a few things. The truth is, there are seven real nightlife clusters across this city, from Uptown to South End to the East Independence corridor (which most lists skip entirely for some reason). The culture is here. What's missing is the connective tissue. That's not an accident, it's a policy choice.

What am I missing? Tag whoever knows the spot I don't. Where are you when you're OUTSIDE?

We're here again with I-77 South. Same corridor, same ask. So before we go further, I want an answer to one question: what changed since the last time this project couldn't clear the bar?

Not "widen or don't widen." The real question: show the marginal benefit of every mile. Show the alternatives that were actually compared. Show the assumptions the whole case is built on, and how sensitive the numbers are if those assumptions are wrong.

We're already funding UNC Charlotte to help design the updated model that can answer this. That work is underway right now. So before anyone asks for a re-vote, let's use what we're already paying for.

Not opposition for opposition's sake. Just: show your work, and don't rush decisions before you even have answers to the last conversations questions.

Raleigh did the most and the least at the same time. 🅿️

NC just eliminated parking minimums statewide starting 2027, which can result in cheaper construction, sure. But if the parking isn't built, the demand doesn't disappear. It moves next door. We've already seen it in South End.
You can't pull one lever on a connected system and call it solved. Mobility, displacement, stormwater capacity-- they move together, or someone else absorbs the cost.
The fix isn't reversing this. It's sequencing it right.

Curfew, teen takeovers, and who's actually supposed to be raising these kids. I said what I said. 👇
CMPD wants a universal 9pm curfew for anyone under 18 — Council votes in August. I'll back a tool that gets kids home safe. I won't back turning curfew stops into records that follow 15-year-olds for years. And I'm not going to pretend the city can parent your child for you.

I don't believe in punishing a region for doing its job. Charlotte City Council voted. Mecklenburg County voted. The Town of Matthews voted. And CRTPO, the regional body that represents this entire area, took its own vote to rescind support for this toll project.

Right now, a handful of legislators and the special interests behind this toll project are negotiating language into the state budget that would withhold road funding from our entire region unless that vote gets reversed.

That's not how accountable government works. CRTPO did exactly what it's supposed to do, and a few people in Raleigh are trying to override an entire region's decision.

It's still being negotiated, which means it's not done. Watch the video on this page for the full picture, send it to 3 people, then look up your state senator and rep and tell them: keep this penalty out of the final budget.

This doesn't just impact the Charlotte region--it's putting North Carolina's federal compliance, local democracy, and your tax dollars at risk.
