Route 7 near Colonel Williams Way in Charlotte will be shut down for the the next several hours due to a motor vehicle collision. A detour is being set up. Please avoid the area.

A Fire Weather Watch issued April 27 at 1:28PM EDT until April 28 at 7:00PM EDT by NWS Burlington VT

The National Weather Service in Burlington has issued a Fire Weather Watch for gusty winds and low humidity, which is in effect from late Tuesday morning through Tuesday evening.

* AFFECTED AREA...In New York, St. Lawrence, Northern Adirondacks, Adirondack High Peaks and Champlain Valley of New York. In Vermont, Champlain Valley of Vermont and western Rutland County.

* Timing...The lowest humidities and strongest winds will occur between 11 AM and 7 PM on Tuesday.

* WINDS...South 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph, with localized higher gusts in northern New York.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 20 to 25 percent.

* TEMPERATURES...Highs in the upper 60s to mid 70s.

* Impacts...If any fires were to start the weather and fuel conditions could cause fires to quickly get out of control and be difficult to contain

CVFRS and the surrounding communities are not permitting any open burning during this time. Please practice good judgement during this time.

Generally, the spring wildland fire season begins shortly after snowmelt, when weather conditions are favorable for drying wildland fuels such as dead grass, leaves, and twigs.
