The Firehouse Kitchen Table....
One of the most sacred places in a firehouse is around the kitchen table! It’s where family comes together....It’s where stories are told and relived....it’s where the world’s problems are solved...it’s where tears are shed...and it’s where chops are busted!!! The Kitchen table is the great equalizer....no matter your time on the job or rank, if you sit down at the table your up for grabs!!! The firehouse kitchen table is referred to as our counselor! Any advice or help you need you always know there are brothers and sisters sitting at that table that have your back thick and thin! The kitchen table can be one of the greatest forms of training there is!!! A new firefighter knows the rules, but the old ones knows the exceptions....and the exceptions are taught at the table!! Here at Firehouse 11 it is always the greatest honor for us to have a retiree come back and break bread with us or have a cup of coffee! They raised their right hand and took the same oath, wore the same patch on their shoulder, wore the same badge on their chest, put in many years of service to the citizens of our great city and paved the same road we are currently riding on! Any CFD retiree is always welcome at Firehouse 11. Come for a meal, a cup of coffee or just to sit and tell stories!
