It's time for the next video in the series, The Making of a Drill Sergeant, where we follow a U.S. Army Reserve Soldier through the process of going to the The U.S. Army Drill Sergeant Academy at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

In Episode 1, Part 2, we get to know a little more about our drill sergeant candidate, Sgt. Alycia Perkins from Columbia, South Carolina. She explains why she wants to become an Army Reserve drill sergeant, what 'This we'll defend' means to her now, before school, and how she has prepared for the academy.

There's a full story on this 2nd Brigade, 98th Training Division Soldier in the Summer Griffon that was just released ( https://issuu.com/kci-mediagroup.com/docs/griffon_summer_2019_flipbook?fr=sNDU0OTE1NzExMw&fbclid=IwAR2S8p2cOB0QsV0yO4z4pekg20_au6kbvVfQusLHt1c8QRhd0TpzLaKh4UU ), but the video clip series will have some interesting little tidbits that would not all fit in the article. So make sure you watch to learn more about this Soldier and her journey on becoming a U.S. Army Reserve drill sergeant.

What It Takes To Pass The Army's Combat Fitness Test

This weekend Vice News did a piece on the new ACFT; check it out.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7ArULgEjtI

The test will not only include different events but be administered differently. All graders will need to attend a one day certification course and NCOIC/OICs will need to attend a two day training. At some point the certification may be built into OES/NCOES, but that is not confirmed.
