Promise Land Heritage Association The mission of organization is to preserve this historical community and to contribute to cultural enrichment of society.

The Promise Land Community in Charlotte, Tennessee was settled by African-Americans shortly after the Civil War. Today the only remaining remnants of this once thriving village are the one room school building and a church building. The first weekend of each year a festival is held at the site of these two buildings to celebrate the heritage of the community.

It was an honor to have Kevin Greene the great great grandson of Frederick Douglass as a participant in the annual Music and Arts Festival a few weeks ago. In this article he shares some interesting insight with the descendant of another famous abolitionist, John Brown. This is a very important topic as we celebrate Juneteenth and our country's 250th anniversary this year.

Douglass Greene and Evans called out acts of the current Trump administration and Supreme Court, while discussing the lasting impact of slavery in the United States.
