On Tuesday, October 14, 2025, Atascosa County Commissioners Court voted to implement a burn ban for the county and will remain in effect for 60 days until December 13, 2025.
* Burning of household trash only, in a barrel with a wire grate on top is allowed.
* Recreational Fires / Cooking Fires are allowed.
* Open flames or open burning is NOT ALLOWED.
* Fires may not begin until 1 hour after sunrise.
* Fires must be extinguished 1 hour prior to sunset.
* A water source must be readily available.
* Approved fires must always be monitored.
* Call the Atascosa County Sheriff's Office to be put in the burn log at (830)-769-3434.
We urge everyone in Atascosa County to abide by the burn ban so we can all work together to minimize the risk of fires and ensure our public's safety.
