Today was another mile stone for people at the jail. We celebrated 4 ladies and 6 men who completed their GED or Recovery Skills classes. 5 men had already completed their GED and were released prior to this graduation. We are extremely proud of the dedication these men and women put forth to accomplish their goals.

Here at the jail it’s been busy a busy week. Outside the crews helped repair the stands at the fairgrounds. One crew helped move furniture for DPD. We had baptisms with the Chaplaincy program and volunteers. I would like to thank all that were involved in everything this week. Without your dedication things would not be possible. It takes a village.

“Our jail work crews have been busy helping our friends at the The Dickson County Help Center & Thrift Store with some renovations this week.
These men may be serving time, but they are keeping busy and utilizing their skill sets to help others in our community which benefits everyone.”
Yup.
Every sheriff in the state should have a program like this one.
AND, MOST DO.

We are proud of the men in the road crew and jail industries for the work they do in the community. It may be picking up trash or helping remodel, they are helping and giving back to the community.

Help me congratulate Captain Cave on completing the Dickson County Leadership Class of 2026. He expressed the amount of knowledge he gained about the county was very valuable. The programs that are offered here have shown to help individuals inside and when they are released. This individual along with others have requested to be housed here rather than going to other counties for their charges and times. Here is a sample from one who has expressed this interest.

I should get probation here i just want the other counties to be on board that way if i get probation I wont be transfered i like how this jail is growng in actually changng people for the beter and i want to actually finish something for once please sir.

National Correctional Officers and Employees Week was established by President Ronald Reagan in 1984 to occur the first full week of May. This year it is recognized as May 3rd. through the 9th.

We honor the dedication, commitment, and professionalism, of those working in jails, prisons, and community corrections, who carry out their critical role in public safety, detention, security, and efforts for rehabilitation.

Please join all our Sheriff’s, Jail Administrator’s, and Warden’s as they recognize deputies, corrections officers, prison guards, and support staff to commend the duty they perform each and every day while maintaining custody of their inmates.

Today Cpl. Blair taught a class on leadership “Iron Sharpens Iron” at the Tennessee Corrections Institute (TCI). Cpl. Blair is part of our training division at the jail. He has heart and gives it his all. We are very proud of him and how he has taken his role to the next level and passing on his passion at this conference. Well done sir.

Awesome program. We are not there yet but have been involved in monthly meetings/training on the subject.

🎉 Congratulations to the latest cohort of Project ECHO graduates at Central New Mexico Correctional Facility’s Level I facility! 🎓

Nine interns successfully transitioned to peer educators after completing an intensive 40-hour training program. All of the peers, new and existing, received certificates for their participation in this process.

During the five week training program, these the students participated in peer-led classes covering essential topics such as mental health, substance abuse, finances, and post-incarceration employment.





Project ECHO

This week the jail completed their first leadership class. The participate were 4 Sgts. and 2 field training officers (FTO). Shout out to Lt. Barber and Cpl. Blair for putting this class together along with adjunct instructors Sgt. Whitworth, Sgt. Collins, Deputies Gonzales and Suddoth. We finished the day with more team building exercises. Watching this group work together and jell was awesome to watch. We continue to build upon our training to keep everyone safe at the jail. Thanks to all that helped or participated this week, well done.

Hope all is safe out there. We made it through on the hill. Training is a big part of what we do and tonight we did training for our volunteers. There was a power outage, but they pushed through and got it done. Thanks to A1 and A2 shifts for getting it done along with the training staff.
