UVA Clean Water is a student-led group committed to protecting local waterways through education and hands-on stewardship, with focus on preventing stormwater pollution and promoting sustainable stormwater management. UVA Clean Water is an active working group in the Environmental Stewardship Subcommittee (ESS) of the University Committee on Sustainability. Through ESS, UVA Clean Water provides gu
idance to, and collaborates with, other working groups on sustainable stormwater management. Students are given the opportunity and resources to investigate, recommend, and design stormwater practices that will reduce UVA’s impacts on local streams, rivers, and ultimately the Chesapeake Bay. These efforts are also instrumental in meeting the University's regulatory TMDL goals, established by the Virginia DEQ and DCR.
