Yesterday, our hearts grew two sizes during a new student appointment when the student gushed to our citizenship coordinator about her free online materials: "I really love the videos," he said. "They are comprehensive, easy to understand. You have good examples. I really, really love them."

Tomorrow's the big day! Join us for the Monticello Naturalization Ceremony on the 4th of July! Cheer on new citizens, including LVCA students, as they take their oath and become U.S. Citizens!!

Last year, LVCA student Vajia, who immigrated to the US from Afghanistan in 2020, had a chance to speak to the crowd after taking her citizenship oath:

"Leaving my home country was not easy but it was necessary for my safety, freedom, and my girls’ future. As a woman in Afghanistan, I lived with many restrict[ions] and a few opportunity. I dreamed of a life where I could speak freely, study, grow, and lead with dignity...Today, on July 4th, Independence Day, I proudly took the oath of citizenship…I’m deeply grateful for the right and freedom that are [given] to us here...I would also like to give my heartfelt thank you to all the staff of LVCA who have supported me."

It is our great honor to support students like Vajia on their citizenship journeys.

LVCA citizenship classes are FREE and have a 98% pass rate for the naturalization interview. They are open to any Virginian who is eligible for citizenship and includes the possibility for FREE one-to-one tutoring, too. Just $20 covers the cost of the textbook and materials.
