CFD firefighters/EMTs recently completed their annual live fire training, honing critical skills to keep our community safe. This intensive training focused on:

• Pulling hose lines for fire attack.
• Forcing doors to gain rapid entry.
• Air management to ensure safe operations in hazardous conditions.
• Search and rescue techniques to locate and save lives.
• Fire extinguishment to bring incidents under control quickly.

Live fire scenarios provide invaluable hands-on experience, reinforcing the techniques and teamwork needed to handle real-life emergencies.

CFD responded to a fire involving four vehicles yesterday at Jackson Via Elementary School. The fire was completely extinguished, and no injuries were reported.

As a precaution, fire crews worked to address gasoline runoff into the stormwater system.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the CFD Fire Marshal’s Office.

Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy flames and access issues due to overgrown vegetation. The home appears to be abandoned.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Charlottesville Fire Department’s Fire Marshal’s office.
