What does an actual visit to Foothills look like for a child?
Every child's experience is unique, but here's a general look at what many children can expect during their visit.
💙 Arrive and get settled with books, games, toys, snacks, and a welcoming space.
💙 Meet the forensic interviewer and spend time with the Family Advocate before the interview begins.
💙 Meet with the forensic interviewer in a child-friendly room. Children are shown the cameras and told the interview is being recorded. Some children may also receive a medical exam from our child abuse-trained medical team once the forensic interview is complete.
💙 Return to the lobby to play, relax, or get some snacks with the Family Advocate after the interview.
💙 Finally, the family receives information, support, and resources to help them navigate what comes next.
From the waiting room to the interview room, every space at Foothills is designed with children in mind. Our hope is that every child feels welcomed, respected, and listened to, knowing they're surrounded by caring adults every step of the way.
