Harrisonburg/Rockingham County Virginia Organizing

As grassroots mutual aid efforts mobilize across Appalachia, we are inviting you to join an effort in Harrisonburg/Rockingham County to provide aid for residents in the southwest region of Virginia who have been impacted by the storm.

We are sharing a list of needed supplies we have received from community members on the ground in the region, and are asking for donations to aid in their recovery efforts. Please drop off donations by THIS MONDAY, October 7 to either of the locations listed.

By joining together, we can help to bring relief to our neighboring communities of southwest Virginia, and stand in solidarity as they move through this difficult time.

I'd like to invite our community out to our Energy Justice and Utility Bills Workshop! We will be talking about ways to save in our energy bills and resources that are available in the community for FREE to do improvements to our homes! We need your support! New Americans in Virginia (refugees, immigrants), friends of refugees, and partners are coming together this January to demonstrate our collective power to ask our VA lawmakers to enact and promote welcoming policies for immigrants and refugees.

We will urge them to support policies that address housing accessibility and create opportunities for immigrants to get appropriate training and workforce development opportunities to fill existing gaps in our workforce. To learn more about these issues see the attachments above.

Join advocates from across the state in Richmond VA on Wednesday, January 24th from 8am to 4pm , please sign up as soon as possible

We highly encourage refugee and immigrants’ rights partners, former refugees, new Americans, resettlement staff, and people of faith, and individuals who support refugees to participate. Please let us know if you will be able to attend.

Help Support local grassroots efforts in communities as individuals raise their voices to make changes occur in their neighborhoods. We need support for skill training workshops to create leaders who will keep the work going and engage in spreading our diversification.
