Loving our trails 🥾🌲🫶

Earlier this week, Trust supporters hit the Rivanna Trail for a Trailblazers Hike led by Community Youth Development Lead Seneca Humphries and David Marrs of the Charlottesville Area Tree Stewards.

Supporters got to see firsthand how this summer's Trailblazers program has grown — and how that work connects to something bigger: safer trails, better accessibility, and long-term environmental resiliency across the region. 🤝

None of it happens without you. Thank you to everyone who joined the hike, and to everyone whose generosity makes programs like Trailblazers possible. 💚

It's kinda chic to celebrate Shenandoah 🙌🎉

Moments like National Park Week are an important reminder of why investing in the future of our iconic public lands is so vital.

We are excited to continue investing in Shenandoah's most urgent needs and boldest possibilities to ensure our favorite park not only endures, but thrives for future generations. 🫶💚

6 weeks. 8 interns. 940 hours. Another incredible season. ⭐️🥾🌿

Our Trailblazers just wrapped up 12 miles of trail work across 7 locations from the Rivanna Trail to Shenandoah National Park. Along the way, they didn't just maintain paths, they learn what it takes to become champions for public lands, both in their hometown and beyond.

So next time you're on the Rivanna Trails or at Dark Hollow Falls, you're standing on trail they helped preserve.

Thank you to our Trailblazer crew for another impactful season and thank YOU for making programs like this possible. 💚

Drop a 🥾 if you've hiked on the Rivanna Trail or at Dark Hollow Falls this year!

A special thank you to all of our program partners🤝 Appalachian Conservation Corps CAYIPCville Rivanna Trails Foundation Charlottesville Area Mountain Bike Club (CAMBC)

Celebrating the Great American Outdoors Act 🌲🇺🇸

On August 4th, 2020, the Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA) Legacy Restoration Fund was established to support thousands of critical maintenance projects across the country, including improvements to our favorite national park!

Since 2020, the LRF has been the largest investment in public lands in U.S. history and made way for a $15 million, 18-month Skyline Drive preservation project that repaired and restored 56 miles and 19 overlooks in Shenandoah.

So whether you're hiking, picnicking, or taking in the view from Skyline Drive, this anniversary is more than a milestone—it's a reminder of what's possible when we show up to support our public lands. 🫶

It's ! 🌲🥾🌎

From the entrance gates and the visitor centers, to the vast trails and wilderness areas — thank you to all of the dedicated rangers who are inspiring visitors, safeguarding wildlife, preserving history, and showcasing what it means to keep Shenandoah thriving for this and future generations!

Their commitment keeps Shenandoah safe, beautiful, and accessible for all. Our parks wouldn’t be the same without the dedicated park rangers who work to protect these treasured landscapes. 🏞️

Next time you visit Shenandoah National Park (or any park!), take a moment to thank a ranger. Their hard work makes every unforgettable hike, remarkable discovery, and peaceful moment in nature possible. 🫶

Behind the Scenes in Shenandoah 🔎🌲

This weekend, Trust supporters got an up-close look at the projects your support makes possible at our July Weekend in the Park event!

We learned so much this weekend. From tracking weather patterns across the park, to a mock rescue with our Preventative Search and Rescue team, to hands-on time with Artist in Residence, Nyssa Collins, and even more!

Two days, so many reminders of why this park matters. Thank you for showing up for Shenandoah 💚

Shenandoah National Park is one of the largest protected wilderness areas east of the Mississippi. That's a big responsibility to safeguard, and it starts with something as small as where you store your snacks. 🍿

One handout can teach a wild animal that humans mean food. That lesson doesn't just put you at risk, it puts the animal's life at risk for relocation or euthanasia. A devastating loss for the wild legacy we're all responsible for protecting. 🌲
