Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail

Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail The staff from the city and county jails were combined and the name given to the facility was the Albemarle-Charlottesville Joint Security Complex.

The jail opened in the fall of 1974 as a result of the City of Charlottesville and the County of Albemarle deciding to build a new regional jail for housing local prisoners and closing the doors of their outdated jails. The name was changed to the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail in 1996.

ACRJ is hiring Licensed Practical Nurses! This position performs direct nursing care of inmates of the Albemarle Charlottesville Regional Jail. Tasks include, but not limited to the following areas of responsibilities: Obtains medical histories and health assessments of inmate patients, administers and reads TB tests on new inmates, and refers patients to appropriate health care providers.

Qualifications/Special Certifications & Licenses include: Ability to work with electronic medical records and other computer based programs; eligible to work in the state of Virginia; CPR certification; and a valid Virginia state license as a Licensed Practical Nurse. This is a full-time position with benefits AND we are accepting new graduates! The kiosk machine that is used to add money to an Inmate's Canteen Account is currently out of order. Feel free to call our facility to see if it is up and running again. Due to the inconvenience this has caused, the receptionist in the front lobby will accept cash transactions ONLY from 8 am to 4 pm. Thank you!
