Happy Spring all!
This weekend, during our launch of the growing season, a guest artist, IlaSahai Prouty, will join us again to create an earthen line drawing using biochar. This is a long term, practical carbon sequestration technique, tied in with community based art practice. If you'd like to come check out the project and visit the gardens, you are welcome to stop by New Roots Farm this weekend!
To find us, you can follow the signage towards the farm at the back of Azalea Park.
If you have any trouble please call or text us at (646)-907-4474, and we'll help you find your way!

More about the project from IlaSahai Prouty:
"Biochar Drawing is a site-specific earthwork designed to sequester carbon, enrich the soil, and make the practice of carbon sequestration visible and accessible on a human scale. Imagine a charcoal drawing, buried underground - a heavy line of carbon set into the earth. Over top, plantings thrive, marking where the drawing lies.
I aim to make artworks that connect people in community and common purpose, sequester carbon, and inspire people to work in relationship with the earth."
