Final exam night for our CERT volunteers!

Tonight, 19 individuals from five different communities are completing their final CERT exercise after committing countless hours to training and preparing to serve their communities during times of disaster.

For tonight’s final exam, participants are putting their skills to the test in a mock disaster scenario involving a major incident in Charlton and surrounding communities. The scenario includes multiple building collapses, several structure fires, blocked roadways, limited communications, and emergency resources already tied up throughout the area.

This exercise is designed to challenge the team’s ability to organize, communicate, assess hazards, perform basic search and rescue, provide disaster medical support, and work together under realistic emergency conditions.

We are proud of their commitment, dedication, and willingness to step forward to help their communities when they are needed most.

Charlton Firefighters were excited to be invited to participate in Field Day activities at Charlton Elementary School today!

Crews set up two interactive fire safety stations for the students. At one station, students rotated through the fire safety education trailer, where they reviewed home escape planning, the importance of having two ways out, and other important fire safety messages.

At the second station, students had the chance to use a fire hose and spray water at a fire target, giving them a fun hands-on experience with our firefighters.

We always enjoy spending time with the students and appreciate the opportunity to make fire safety education fun, interactive, and memorable. Included some drone photos that were taken by one of our drone pilots who was finishing up another project in the area.

Thank you to Charlton Elementary School for inviting us!

Today, the Charlton Fire Department pauses to honor and remember the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

Memorial Day is more than the unofficial start of summer. It is a solemn reminder of the courage, devotion, and sacrifice of those who gave their lives defending the freedoms we are privileged to enjoy every day.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the families who carry the loss of their loved ones and to all who continue to honor their memory.

May we never forget their sacrifice.

The Charlton Fire Department extends our heartfelt condolences to the family of Boston Firefighter Robert Kilduff Jr., the members of Rescue Company 2, and the entire Boston Fire Department.

A loss like this is felt far beyond one firehouse or one city. It is felt across the fire service and throughout the Commonwealth. We stand with our brothers and sisters in Boston during this incredibly difficult time and keep Firefighter Kilduff’s family, friends, and fellow firefighters in our thoughts and prayers.
