Around 0100 this morning, Charlton Fire Department A-1, A-2, and C-1 responded on mutual aid to assist Sturbridge Fire at a critical incident.

Once it was determined that no further Fire/EMS assistance was needed, Charlton units were released from the scene.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and all those affected. All media inquiries should be directed to the Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.’s Office.

Charlton Fire had the pleasure of stopping by Charlton Elementary School and Charlton Heritage School today to wish students a happy and safe summer on their last day of school.

Engaging with students throughout the year through our community outreach programs is truly one of the highlights for our members. We hope all of the students, families, teachers, and staff have a safe, fun, and well-deserved summer break.

We look forward to seeing everyone again in the fall!

Apologize for the late notice, this is on the Fire Department for not putting out the reminder this morning.

Congratulations to two Charlton 7th grade students for placing in the Arson Watch Reward Poster Contest, a program that helps promote fire safety, arson prevention, and community awareness.

Last week, Chief Barton had the privilege of meeting with both students and recognizing their outstanding work.

Penny Daly — 1st Place, Worcester County
Kinnon Williamson — 2nd Place, Worcester County

Their posters will be signed by the students and proudly displayed in the new fire station, along with last year’s winning poster.

Great job, Penny and Kinnon!

The Department invested in and installed HAAS Alert Safety Cloud transponders in several of our emergency vehicles two years ago to help notify nearby drivers when responders are operating at emergency scenes and incidents.

Since implementing this technology, we have observed a measurable reduction in vehicle speeds near our emergency operations, helping to create a safer environment for both responders and the traveling public.

Please remember: When you see emergency lights, slow down and move over whenever it is safe to do so.
