With the winds picking up overnight there may be trees, power lines or other unsecured objects blowing around in the roadway! Be alert on your drive to or from work for anything that has not been reported yet and never drive near or over downed power lines! If you drive upon any downed trees or lines in the roadway stop and call 911 when it is safe to do so.

Our early morning mutual aid response to Lyon Mountain Volunteer Fire Department this morning. We responded with Tanker 56 and Engine 55, Hinchinbrooke stood by in our station with an engine and crew to cover our district while we were out to the fire.

This past weekend we celebrated 100 years of service to the community. We would like to thank everybody that took the time out of their day to celebrate with us! A special thank you to all who joined us in the parade as well as TruNorthern Federal Credit Union for the donation of $1,000 to the fire company! This donation will be put toward equipment to better serve the area.

Today at 9:35 am this morning, the Westville Volunteer FD was dispatched to a reported explosion on County Route 19 in the Town of Westville. Moments later, the fire was upgraded to a reported structure fire and one person injured. Upon arrival, it was found that the residential building had exploded and was leveled and one person required medical treatment. Fire suppression began on the structure and medical personnel began treating the subject injured in the explosion. The patient was subsequently transported to Alice Hyde Medical Center by Malone EMS with Westville EMS remaining on scene to provide coverage for the fire scene. No firefighters were injured during this incident and all units were back in service by approximately 16:00 this afternoon.

We would like to thank Bangor FD, Bombay FD, Brushton FD, Burke FD, Chateaugay FD, Constable FD, Dickinson FD, Duane FD, Fort Covington FD, Hogansburg/Akwesasne FD, Malone Calfiremen, and the Owls Head/Mountain View FD, Franklin County Emergency Services, Franklin County 911, Franklin County Highway, County Investigation Team, Fire Police and the Rehab Team for assisting us today on a very warm day.

Last but certainly not least, thank you to our members who responded to the fire and the Westville Auxiliary for providing refreshments and food several times today.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office will be offering an in-person Boating Safety Course on Saturday, May 17th from 8am-4:30pm, in the conference room of the Franklin County Emergency Services building.

This course will be limited to 20 participants. Pre-registration is required and will be offered on a first come first serve basis. The cost for this course is $30 and can be paid the day of the class (cash or check).

Brianna's Law took effect in New York State in 2020, after the tragic death of a young girl in a boating accident. Brianna's Law requires all operators of motorized watercraft to complete a state- approved boating safety course by the year 2025.
