We have had some complaints recently regarding dogs at mill creek park and groen park that have not been leashed and running freely not within 10 feet of their owner. Dogs should either be leashed or 100% in command control and stay within 10 feet of the owner when on the walking paths and park side of public areas.

There is a separate area on the other side of the creek next to the field that has been used to let dogs run freely off of a leash and would be a better option if you do want to have your animal run.

Although your dog may be friendly and approachable, to some people when animals come running towards them it can be scary and frightening especially for our younger kids in the community. Thank you for your cooperation.

Midwest storm season kicked off earlier this week and with that we want to keep you updated in Chatfield.

📌The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Management division is responsible for activating the outdoor warning sirens in Chatfield. They coordinate closely with the National Weather Service in La Crosse, volunteer SkyWarn storm spotters, and local public safety officials during severe weather events to ensure timely warnings are issued.

Sirens are activated under the following conditions:
🌪️Tornado Warnings (issued by the National Weather Service, whether radar-indicated or confirmed by trained spotters or public safety personnel)
đź’¨Sustained winds of 70 mph or greater (forecasted or observed)
🌨️Hail measuring 2 inches in diameter or larger

Important reminders:
- There is no “all-clear” siren after activation.
- Outdoor warning sirens are designed to alert people who are outdoors, not those inside buildings.
- Always have multiple ways to receive severe weather information, such as weather alerts on your phone, weather radios, or trusted media sources.

After 29 years of dedicated service to the City of Chatfield, Chief Fox has decided it’s finally time to hang up the uniform, turn off the sirens, and begin his next great adventure: pretending he won’t miss us.

Please join us for an Open House in his honor on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. here at City Hall

And just to be clear – yes this is actually happening, No, it’s not an April Fools’ joke. We checked. Twice.

Please remove vehicles from city streets by 6:00 am Saturday until 11:00 am Sunday. This allows the plows to clear street more effectively and safer. Vehicles will be ticketed. Public Works Dept
