It’s been a busy and exciting start to the school year at Brosville Elementary! Students have enjoyed the annual Fun Run, racing through colorful clouds, getting cooled off by the Brosville Fire Department, and celebrating with Kona Ice.

The fun continued with Animal Print Dress-Up Day as students and staff kicked off September’s theme, “Nature’s Wonders: Plants, Animals, and Habitats.”

And the love of reading is going strong! Mrs. Estabrook’s 3rd grade class took first place in the school’s first reading challenge with more than 3,000 minutes read in one week, while 3rd–5th graders logged an incredible 12,832 minutes through Beanstack!

From fitness and fun to literacy and learning, students are making this school year one to remember!

Pittsylvania County Schools Transportation will host Bus Driver Training next weekend, September 12–13, with the second training weekend taking place September 19–20.

Saturday: 8:00am - 3:00pm
Sunday: 1:00pm - 5:00pm

Training will be held at the Transportation Facility, located at 1001 Tightsqueeze Road, Chatham, VA.

Please note: You must attend both weekends to earn the required 24 hr. credit.

No wood? No problem! Our 6th grade Tunstall Middle School historians are getting their hands dirty building sod houses and discovering how Great Plains pioneers turned challenges into innovative solutions during Westward Expansion.

Due to an unforeseen water issue and repairs needed first thing this morning, Southside Elementary School will operate on a 2-hour delay today, September 2, 2026. All other PCS schools will operate on normal schedule. If a change is needed, an additional announcement will be made.

Parents and community members bring valuable perspectives and skills that enrich our learning environments. Their support through volunteering, mentoring, or sharing expertise fosters meaningful connections between schools and the community.

Each school’s administration will coordinate volunteer and community involvement to ensure efforts meet school needs.

This past summer, five students from Chatham High School had the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C., with the Colonial Dames and participate in a program through the Washington Workshops Foundation.

During their experience, students explored our nation’s capital and gained firsthand insight into government, history, leadership, and civic engagement. They visited significant sites throughout Washington, D.C., while learning about our nation’s history and the many lessons the nation’s capital has to offer.
