So thrilled to share this news!

We are pleased to share that Ooms is home to three baby dinosaurs (er, Kestrels) 😄

CLC has partnered with the Berkshire Bird Observatory through their Kestrel Nest Box Program to host nesting boxes on public lands in the hopes of attracting breeding pairs. Once common in New England, these spectacular little falcons have experienced steep declines in population across the Northeast. One way to help is to provide nesting structures in large open spaces, like old fields and farm and pasture lands with exposed perches!

Know of a place like that? BBO is continually looking for new partners to host Kestrel boxes at sites with adequate open habitat (>30 acres). Get in touch with Ben Nickley at [email protected] to learn more!

[All banding, marking, and sampling is conducted under a federally authorized Bird Banding Permit issued by the USGS BBL.]

Please be advised that the parking lots at Ooms are under construction today!

This work will expand and resurface the parking lots. While construction on the main lot is underway, the pull off parking spots will remain open if you plan to visit. Thank you for your patience as we work on these improvements!

Live, laugh...let's go birding!

Now... if you look carefully, you can see a wild group of birders in their natural habitat, huddled as they search for feathered friends 👀🦆😂

Have you ever spotted a bald eagle at Ooms? 🦅

On , we share eagle facts! 🦅 This eagle was spotted at Ooms, which over the years has served as a nesting ground for several mated pairs of bald eagles.

While both male and female eagles will build their nest together, did you know that the female selects the nest tree for the pair? Fly, eagle queens, fly, and thank you for making Columbia County your home!
