Washington County Conservation District The Association serves as a vehicle for unified action by districts, exchange of information, and discussion of issues.

The Alabama Association of Conservation Districts (AACD), organized in August, 1943, is a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization of the 67 Soil and Water Conservation Districts in Alabama. The purposes of the Association are:
To exchange information relating to the administration, operation, and welfare of soil and water conservation districts. To provide aid and guidance in programs for the pre

vention and control of soil erosion and conservation of soil and water resources. To promote water quality protection as a goal in soil and water resource programs. To promote retention of prime farmland for producing food and fiber. To conduct an educational and informational program as to the wise and efficient management of land and water resource

Signup Deadline for USDA Financial Assistance Programs

The Natural Resources Conservation Service has announced that November 13, 2020 is the deadline for producers to complete an application for Fiscal Year 2021 for the following programs,

- Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP-WRE)
- Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP)
- Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP)

Financial assistance is available for practices in Clarke, Washington and Choctaw counties that treat a specific resource concern such as but not limited to, forest site preparation, tree establishment, firebreaks, prescribe burning, pastureland planting, cross fencing, water wells for water source for livestock or irrigation for vegetable production. Financial assistance is available to treat resource concerns on Cropland, Forestland, Pastureland and Farmsteads such as animal feeding operations. For program details, information on offered practices or to obtain an application, please contact your local NRCS office in Jackson, Alabama at 251-246-0245 ext. 3. Due to COVID-19 we are limiting contact with the public so be aware if you arrive at one of our offices unannounced you may be asked to schedule an appointment and return at a later date.
