Summer is here, and while many families are traveling and routines change, these “J months” can often be some of the slowest for our local shops, restaurants, and small-town businesses.

This summer, make it a point to shop local, eat local, and support the businesses that help make our community special year-round.

Before heading out of town or clicking “add to cart” online, consider stopping by a local store, grabbing dinner at a hometown restaurant, or supporting a small business owner in our community. Small choices make a big impact.

I’ve partnered with the Murray County Chamber of Commerce of Commerce with the incredible leadership of Barry Gentry For years I’ve watched Murray County from the edge of it from home here in Gordon County, Driving up 411, taking the long way through Eton, stopping at places where the waitress knows everyone’s order before they sit down. Small towns like this one still carry something most of America has forgotten how to want. A settled sense of place that deserves better translation to the people who haven’t found it yet.

That translation is what this site is about. Fort Mountain, the Cohuttas, the scenic drives, Chief Vann’s old house standing quietly on the road to Spring Place, the courthouse square in Chatsworth, the way Eton holds its own a few miles up the highway. The raw materials have always been here. They just needed a proper front door.

I’m honored to be working on this with the Murray County Chamber of Commerce and Barry Gentry. The Chamber has been doing serious civic work on the economic side of the county, and bringing the tourism story up to that same level has been a genuine privilege.

I came to this with a bias. I own land in Murray County. Sherpa Camp sits up in those hills, and I’ve spent enough time out there to know what the place feels like at first light and after a long day on the trails. You can’t fake affection for a county. You either have it or you don’t.

More is coming. We’ve got itineraries in the pipeline, heritage writing underway, scenic drives mapped for people who actually like to stop, plus a few other things I’m not ready to announce yet. This launch is the first chapter.
