Our facility is a self sorting facility.

Please do NOT drop and go!

Particularly not with mixed bags like this.

It is okay to leave a bag of a single item in its sack. We have people all the time say... this bag is nothing but water bottles. This is a bag of metal cat food cans. Leaving them in their bags is actually kind of helpful. We just place them where the belong and move on...

I would estimate that if we sorted through this bag, only 50% is recyclable. The other 50% is trash. We do not have enough volunteers at our facility to sort through trash. This sadly means, that outside of a few bottles that I could easily grab off the top, the rest of the bag is going to the landfill.

If the person who dropped this off had stayed, we could have helped them. We would have taken the time to show them what is recyable and what isn't. This would help us and ultimately save them time. After all, they took time out of their day to save these items and to bring them to us. I take this to mean they want to do the right thing.

Lets work together to do the right things, in the right way. Waiting a few minutes makes a difference.

It is with great sorrow that I share the passing of Janice Long Bramblett.

Janice was more than a colleague. She was a friend to our community and for many of us, Janice had become family.

We will miss her kindness, dedication, and quirky sense of humor.

It will definitely not be the same without her here.

My grand daughter, like most girls her age, is full of curiosity. This mornings question.... is Rocky made of metal? No, I told her. Ricky is not made of metal. He is made of hard plastic. She then proceeds to ask if Rocky is made out of water bottles.

Now Rocky isn't made from water bottles ( #1 plastic), but upon researching he is made from at least 71% pre-consumer recycled plastic!

So if you have ever wondered what becomes of plastic materials you take the time to deliver to recycling centers like ours, your efforts provide manufacturers with materials to make toys!
