Haven Hills Stop Domestic Violence, Build Self Reliance, Save Lives

Since 1977 Haven Hills has provided safety and support to victims of domestic violence. We offer shelter, crisis intervention, counseling, advocacy, and activities supporting increased economic opportunity. Each year we help over 3,000 women and men find the strength within themselves to break the cycle of abuse and to build a new, productive and positive life for themselves and their children.

Meet Lauren Cole, one of the voices behind Haven Hills' mission. πŸ’œ

Community impact is not one size fits all. It looks different for every person depending on where they are, what they have, and what they need. Some people arrive with a strong support network. Some arrive with nothing. And our job is to meet them exactly where they are.

That is what Haven Hills has done for 49 years. Help people get back on their feet and move forward into the life they deserve.

We are grateful for board members like Lauren who understand that and show up for this mission every single day.

It didn't matter who was in front of me telling me you're not alone. I couldn't hear it. Until I heard it from Haven Hills.

That is what this work is about. Not just saying the words. Showing up until they land.

If you are in a season where you cannot hear it yet, we are not going anywhere. We will keep showing up until you can. And when you are ready, there will be a whole community of people here cheering you on.

Since 1977, Haven Hills has been answering calls, opening doors, and standing beside every survivor who reached out. Swipe to see what 49 years of community support actually looks like in real numbers.

321 individuals sheltered. 4,800 crisis calls answered. $600,000 in housing assistance. 86 cents of every dollar going directly to survivors.

Every stat is a person. Every number is a family. And none of it happens without this community.

49 years of open doors. 49 years of standing beside every survivor who reached out.

That does not happen by accident. It happens because this community keeps choosing to show up. Year after year after year.

We are celebrating 49 years today and already building toward year 50.

That is where we meet people. Not after the hard part. Right in the middle of it.

For 49 years Haven Hills has helped survivors write a different ending. Safe shelter. Therapy. Legal advocacy. A caseworker who knows your name and your children's names. Today, that survivor has a home, hope, and the confidence to believe in herself again.

To celebrate 49 years, we have one simple ask: 49 gifts for 49 years of hope. Whether your gift is $49, $100, or $4,900, every dollar goes directly toward safety, healing, and hope for the next survivor who calls us.

To donate, click the link in our bio. Every gift counts. Every gift matters.

August is National Wellness Month. And wellness means something different for everyone.

For survivors navigating healing, it can feel overwhelming to know where to start. These five tips are a starting point. Not a checklist. Not a timeline. Just five gentle reminders that you deserve to feel well. 🀍

Save this post and share it with someone who needs it. And if you or someone you love needs support, Haven Hills is here. 818-887-6589.

Community changes everything. πŸ’œ

We asked people if there had ever been a moment where they felt truly supported by the people around them. And this answer stopped us.

"It doesn't happen in a vacuum. We love when people come together and support each other."

That is exactly what Haven Hills believes about survivors too. No one heals alone. No one rebuilds alone. And no one should have to face this alone.

When community shows up, everything becomes possible. Be part of ours. Link in bio.

When children are struggling at home, the classroom is often where it shows up first. πŸ’œ

A change in grades. Withdrawing from friends. Increased anxiety or fear. These can all be signs that something is happening behind closed doors that a child cannot put into words.

Teachers, counselors, and school staff play a powerful role in the lives of children navigating trauma. Knowing what to look for and knowing where to turn can make all the difference.

At Haven Hills, we are here for families across Los Angeles. If you are concerned about a child or family in your community, reach out. 818-887-6589 or www.havenhills.org πŸ’œ
